Jay Crocker is an artist, composer, producer, arranger, instrument builder, multi-instrumentalist, and musical explorer residing on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Crocker’s work has received critical acclaim from The New York Times, Paris Trans Atlantic, the BBC, and always pushes through boundaries to create beautiful and stimulating sonic structures that defy convention. Over the past 10 years, Crocker has been creating instruments of various sizes and sophistications in conjunction with experimental compositional methods. This work has intensified into the creation of a homebuilt instrument ensemble which uses its own hybrid notation system, called the ‘Planetary Music System,’ that is circular rather than linear and based on gear sets.
